Parenting Group
The Parenting Group was set up some years ago by some of the parents in Christ Church. It aims is to give parents in the church family the chance to support each other.
We have run parenting courses developed by Care for the Family and Positive Parenting. Some of the issues covered are: developing emotional security, setting loving limits and keeping your children safe.
Alongside the courses the group organises one-off events. Speakers cover specific topics aimed at helping us cope with bringing up our children in a fast changing world. We have had meetings on subjects such as The Internet Age, Drug Abuse and Bullying.
The fathers in the group held an evening called "Are you there Dad?" concentrating on the roles of fathers in the family. At present the group is investigating running an additional course with a more biblical basis.
